MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a snowshoe hike along Songbird Trail from 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5. Participants will meet as a group at Moosewood Nature Center. If enrollment warrants, another hike will be scheduled for Sunday, March 12.

Jennifer May, naturalist and Moosewood program director, will teach bird identification skills and demonstrate bird calls along the trail, which is located in Wetmore. Participants should bring a mug for hot chocolate that will be made from snowmelt water. Those who are uncomfortable drinking a beverage made from snowmelt may bring their own drink.

Snowshoes will be available for rent from Moosewood for $3 plus a refundable $30 deposit. Sizes and quantities are limited, so participants are encouraged to call Moosewood ahead of time at 228-6250 to check if their size is available.

The cost is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers. There is a class size limit of 25, and the registration deadline is Friday, March 3. To register, contact the NCLL office at 227-2979. For more information, contact the class liaisons at 228-0254 and 249-3229.
