VALENTINE SOIREE AND ART EXHIBIT AT NMU

MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Museum will present its fifth annual valentine soiree from 8-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

This event, which serves as a fundraiser for the museum, will feature live jazz music from the Dave Ziegner quartet, wine and hors d’oeuvres. It will also provide an opportunity for the community to view the museum’s new exhibit, titled “Copley to Cassatt: American Paintings from the Detroit Institute of Arts” which will be on display through March 3.

“This exhibit includes works from some of the most famous American painters. They illustrate the early history of American painting,” said Wayne Francis, museum director. “These pieces don’t travel very often, so we wanted to seize the opportunity to display them while they’re available.”

The general public is invited to this event. Tickets are $30 per person and are available at the art and design office. They will also be available at the door. For more information, contact 227-2194.
