MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University will present a brief program titled “Africa: the Continent, the People, the Tragedy and the Hope” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in West Science room 2906. The program will precede a showing of the film Hotel Rwanda.

Hotel Rwanda shows Africa as it was 10 years ago, when a series of brutal murders exterminated one million people.

“There is still hope. Although Africa has been devastated with one tragedy after another, the continent can still be saved with a little help from an educated and compassionate world community,” said Mohey Mowafy, a professor in the health physical education and recreation department at NMU.

This free event is sponsored by the honors section of the natural sciences and Phi Alpha Theta. The general public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Mowafy at 227-2366.
