NCLL PRESENTS BLACKSMITHING

            MARQUETTE –The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will hold a blacksmithing class from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Northern Michigan University’s Thomas Fine Arts Building. 

            The class, which is the first in NCLL’s Artisan Series, will feature three artist blacksmiths: Dale Wedig, professor of metal arts at NMU; Gordon Gearhart, professional artist blacksmith; and Don Snitgen, NCLL member and blacksmith at Deer Creek Forge.  The blacksmiths will switch duties throughout the evening, with two forging and one explaining the process to the class.  Wedig will also present a slide show of iron artwork that he has collected.

            The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 21, and the class size is limited to 20.  There will be a waiting list for those who exceed the limit.   The cost is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers.  To register or for more information, contact 249-3229.
