MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s JOBSearch Center will host its annual Career Awareness Day from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.

Nearly 70 employers are scheduled to attend, including the Battle Creek Health System, City Insurance Agency, Family Video, Engineered Machined Products (EMP), and the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

“This is our 38th Career Awareness Day; it’s our major fall event, and it promises to be a busy and exciting day,” said John Frick (JOBSearch Center).  “A lot of employers use this fair as a recruitment opportunity for jobs and internships, so students should come with a resume and be prepared to discuss why they’re interested in that particular career.  This fair is an excellent opportunity for students to receive internships for academic credit, and all they need to do is spend a minimum of a half hour to an hour here.  It benefits both students and employers, and we’ve received a lot of positive feedback from it, which is why it’s been around for so many years.”

A full list of participating employers can be found at the following Web address:  http://jobsearch.nmu.edu/CAD/2005cadwebpage.php.

The NMU academic major fair will also be held on Oct. 5. It is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. in the third-floor atrium of C.B. Hedgcock.
