MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University will hold auditions for “Voices of Courage: Inspiration from Survivors of Sexual Assault” from 8-10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in the back room of the University Center. The auditions are open to the public.
“Voices of Courage” is a book of recovery stories from 12 sexual assault survivors throughout the nation, including an NMU alumna. It contains the experiences of men and women of different ages, races and backgrounds. NMU’s Health Promotions Office (HPO) has been working on developing excerpts from the book into a reading. The first performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, and will be the feature of an AIDS, Alcohol, and Acquaintance Rape Awareness Week. HPO hopes to bring the performance to a variety of venues, including high schools and churches.
This event is sponsored by the Health Promotion Society, VOX, HPO, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Office, the Counseling Center and the Women’s Center of Marquette. For more information, contact Jodi Hanford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
