MARQUETTE – The Finn Grand Fest 2005 celebration will kick off with a cultural parade at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.  The festival continues through Sunday, Aug. 14, in Marquette.

            The parade begins at the 300 block of Third Street and proceeds to Fair Avenue, then heads east and disbands in the parking lot of the Superior Dome. 

            Music from various bands will be featured, as well as other entries that represent the cultural aspects of Finnish and Canadian heritages.

            Those attending the parade are encouraged to wear either blue and white or authentic Finnish clothing.  Children are welcome to enter the bike decorating contest and ride their creations in the parade. 

            The Finn Grand Fest opening ceremony at Lakeview Arena follows the parade and is open to the general public free of an admission charge.
