PAAVO NURMI 5-10k RACES TO TAKE PLACE AT FINN GRAND FEST 2005

            MARQUETTE, Mich. – Finn Grand Fest 2005 and the Superiorland Ski Club will play host to the Paavo Nurmi Memorial Race as part of the festival taking place in Marquette Aug. 10-14.

            The concurrent 5- and 10-kilometer races begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.  The start and finish is at Mattson Lower Harbor Park with the course running along the shores of Lake Superior and through Founders Landing.

Racers will be classed according to age and gender.  The registration fee is $15 per participant.  Registering by Aug. 1 ensures the entrant a Finn Grand Fest t-shirt.

            To register, send your name, address, phone number, age on race day, choice of 5K or 10K, t-shirt size and fee (checks payable to Finn Grand Fest 2005) to:  FGF 2005 Paavo Nurmi Race, 2342 U.S. Highway 41 West, Marquette, MI  49855.

            During the 1920s, Paavo Nurmi brought Finland to international prominence in track, winning medals in three Olympic Games and setting the world record in the mile.
