KANE RECEIVES NMU HOUSTON AWARD

          MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University senior Ruth Kane, an English writing major from Bark River-Harris, is the recipient of the 2005 Houston Award.

          The award is presented annually by the NMU department of English to a student who prepares an exceptional paper in the college composition II course. Kane was honored for her narrative titled "Through a Glass."

          Established in 1984, the Houston Award honors the memory of Howard Houston, an NMU English professor from 1968-1983.
