MARQUETTE –The Northern Michigan University Symphonic Band will take the stage at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, in Reynolds Recital Hall in C. B. Hedgcock.
Selected members of the group will be performing brass choir and wind ensemble repertoire. The brass choir will present Henry Purcell’s Symphony from “The Fair Queen,” Act IV. The wind ensemble will perform Dmiri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Roger Cichy’s Bugs.
The entire symphonic band will perform The Klaxon by Henry Fillmore, Mainnin Veen by Haydn Wood and Fantasia in G by Timothy Mahr.
Also included will be Frank Ticheli’s Symphony No. 2, Apollo Unleashed, a piece that was commissioned in 2002 by a consortium of institutions, including Northern Michigan University.
The 80-plus member group is under the direction of Stephen Grugin, NMU director of bands.
