MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University will pay homage to a decade gone by during a two-day event titled “NMU Loves the '90s.” Highlights include concerts by Blessid Union of Souls at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, and Naughty By Nature at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16. Both will be held in Vandament Arena.
Best known for their hits “I Believe” and “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me),” Blessid Union of Souls formed in 1990. They released their first and most popular album in 1995. They have released two more since then, as well as a collection titled “The Singles.”
Naughty By Nature was formed in 1986 and performed at talent shows until they were discovered by artist Queen Latifah. Their hits “O.P.P.” and “Hip Hop Hooray” are recognized as classics in the rap genre. They have released three albums, two of which have gone platinum and one that received the 1995 Best Rap Album award.
Ticket prices are $5 for students and $8 for the general public to see Blessid Union of Souls. For Naughty By Nature, tickets are $7 for students and $10 for the general public.
