MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is offering Tai Chi Chuan from 4-5 p.m. on six consecutive Tuesdays, from April 5-May 10, at First United Methodist Church.
Tai Chi Chuan is a meditative exercise program based on a series of slow-motion "forms" derived from ancient Chinese martial arts and grounded in Taoist philosophy of balance and harmony. It offers benefits such as increasing flexibility and strengthening the muscles used in posture and balance. The Tai Chi forms and warm-up exercises utilized in this course will be learned and practiced in the standing position, usually with both feet on the ground. Participants should wear loose-fitting clothing.
The cost to attend is $24 for NCLL members and $42 for nonmembers. The class size is limited to 15, and the deadline for registration is Sunday, April 3. To register or for more information call 906-228-9367 or attend the NCLL Spring Term Kickoff from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, in the social room of First United Methodist Church.
