MARQUETTE – Tickets for Gilbert and Sullivan’s opera "the Mikado" are now available at all Northern Michigan University EZ Ticket outlets.
"The Mikado" is a production of the NMU music department. It will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30, with a matinee at 1 p.m. Saturday, in Forest Roberts Theatre.
One of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular operas, "the Mikado" is the story of Nanki-Poo, the son of the Mikado of Japan, who flees his father’s court to escape a marriage to an elderly woman. Disguised as a wandering minstrel, he falls in love with a young woman named Yum-Yum, who is already betrothed.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for NMU students and children 13 or under. The production is sponsored by the NMU music department.
