MARQUETTE – In conjunction with Michigan History Day, Northern Michigan University will host the Zone 1 Michigan History Day Competition for high school students from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in the University Center.

            The theme for this year will be “Communication in History: The Key to Understanding.”  Students from Hancock High School will participate.  They will compete against each other with single and group exhibits as well as research papers and documentaries.  The winners of this competition may move on to the state contest April 1 in Mt. Pleasant, and from there to the national competition this summer in College Park, Md.

            This event is sponsored by the NMU history department, which will also provide the judging.  For more information, contact Howard Nicholson at 227-2586.
