KENNY GARRETT QUARTET TO PERFORM AT KAUFMAN

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The Kenny Garrett Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Kaufman Auditorium as a part of the 2004-05 Northern Michigan University Performing Art Series.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Alto saxophonist Kenny Garrett, a native of Detroit, played with the Duke Ellington Orchestra for three and a half years, and has performed with many other bands such as Art BlakeyÂ’s Jazz Messengers and the Miles Davis Group. In addition to jazz music, Garrett and his quartet play blues, fusion and hip-hop. GarrettÂ’s CDs include “Happy People” and “Simply Said.”

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Advance tickets for the event are $6 for all students, $14 for NMU faculty and staff and $15 for the general public.
