NMU ORCHESTRA CONCERT TO BE HELD IN REYNOLDS RECITAL HALL

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Orchestra, along with three faculty soloists, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Reynolds Recital Hall in the Hedgcock Building.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The NMU Orchestra will perform "The Ruins of Athens Overture" by Beethoven and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Grieg. Former music adjunct Carol McAnulty will play a guitar concerto in "D Major" by Antonio Vivaldi. Music professor Mark Flaherty will perform a trumpet solo: "Concerto in D" by Giuseppe Torelli. Music professor James Strain will play xylophone for three short pieces for xylophone and orchestra: "Jovial Jasper", "One Fleeting Hour" and "Firefly Gallop."

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  "These soloists are the highlight of the concert," music professor Barbara Rhyneer said.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The public is invited to attend.  There is no admission charge.
