Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University music professor Robert Engelhart will present the first "opera power lunch" at noon Thursday, Jan. 20. The informal talk will be held in Dining Room A of the University Center, near the Wildcat Den, and is scheduled to end promptly at 12:45 p.m.

The event will kick off a mini-lecture series connected with the recent formation of the Superior Light Opera Assocation.

"My goal is to introduce the public to the hilarious world of Gilbert and Sullivan operas, so these talks will be very light and lots of fun – even for people who don't know anything about opera," Engelhart said. "I'm hoping the opera power lunch will become a monthly event for those who are interested in learning more about light opera and the activities of SLOA."

During the lunch, Engelhart will play musical selections and discuss a topic of interest. He will also provide behind-the-scenes updates on the progress of The Mikado, scheduled for production in late April at the Forest Roberts Theatre.

For more information, contact Engelhart at 227-1038.
