Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Lekitia Cokley, a computer information systems senior from Eastpointe, will be the student speaker at Northern Michigan UniversityÂ’s mid-year commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 18.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Cokley has been actively involved in campus activities during her years at NMU.  She has been a co-instructor for freshman seminar, a student-faculty judiciary member, the president of Comic Strip House in Spooner Hall, an all-student judiciary member, a LINK peer mentor and the secretary of Meyland Hall.  She is also the webmaster for the Black Student Union.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Her speech will address reaching oneÂ’s goals and avoiding negative influences. She will also discuss the importance of keeping in contact with friends and professors and thanking those who helped along the way. When asked to sum up her NMU experience, Cokley said “Northern Michigan University has helped me find my true self which has been hiding for so many years.”

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The commencement ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Superior Dome.
