Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – There will be a percussion studio recital at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in Jamrich 103 at Northern Michigan University. NMU music professor James A. Strain will give a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, also in Jamrich 103.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Students will perform several snare drum, marimba and xylophone solos and combinations in the percussion studio recital. There will also be a marimba quartet that will perform "The Emperor Quartet" by Haydn.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Strain will perform a wide variety of music with a xylophone, vibraphone and marimba for the faculty recital, including a piece titled "Marimba Dances," another titled "Recital Suite for Solo Snare Drum" and two waltzes for xylophone.

Music professor Nancy Redfern will accompany on the piano for a couple of short pieces. Strain will also perform two duets with Carrie Biolo, a percussionist from Marquette.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The public is invited to attend these free events.
