"UNIVERSITY CHOIR, MADRIGAL SINGERS TO PERFORM"

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The University Choir and Madrigal Singers will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at Messiah Lutheran Church.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The University Choir and Madrigal Singers are mixed ensemble student groups directed by Northern Michigan University music professor Floyd Slotterback. They will be accompanied on piano by Jan Brodersen. The groups will perform a wide variety of sacred and secular music.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “Music in these concerts can go all the way back to the Renaissance,” Slotterback said. “The groups will perform music written as recently as this year as well.”

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  One song that will be performed is “The Wind” by composer Jackson Berkey. It was commissioned especially for the installation of NMU President Les Wong. NMU music professor Elda Tate will play a flute solo for the song at the performance at Messiah Lutheran Church.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The public is invited to attend this free event.
