MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Health Promotion Office is seeking “Art with a Message” for an upcoming show at the Sweet Water Café and Gallery. Submissions are being accepted through Monday, Oct. 18.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The purpose of the show is to celebrate the joy of safer choices and illustrate the pain of the recovery process. Submissions must portray themed material addressing issues pertaining to alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, sexual assault or sexually transmitted infections including HIV.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  A limited number of “Art with a Message” pieces will be displayed at the Sweet Water Café from Oct. 25 to Dec. 6. All displayed materials will be judged by a panel and by a peopleÂ’s choice ballot. Ribbons will be awarded to the best judged and most popular pieces.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Art submissions will be accepted at the Health Promotion Office in room 1205 of the NMU University Center. Artists will be notified no later than Friday, Oct. 22, if their work has been accepted into the show.
