MARQUETTE Ã‚– The 20th annual meeting of the Medieval Association of the Midwest will be held at Northern Michigan University on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Explorer Rooms of the University Center.
The academic conference will feature interdisciplinary presentations of current research on medieval and renaissance subjects by 25 scholars from the Midwest and as far away as New England and Puerto Rico. Ã‚
The keynote address, Ã‚“ChaucerÃ‚’s Tragic Romance: Imagining Voices in Troilus & Criseyde,Ã‚” will be given by Alan Gaylord of Dartmouth College. He is an internationally respected authority on Old and Middle English language and literature. Other presentations cover topics such as art in medieval literature, humor in heroic poetry, medieval faith and philosophy, and dramatic performance pre- and pro-Christianity.Ã‚ Ã‚
