Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The French Table will convene for weekly meetings from 7:45-9 p.m. Thursdays on the second floor of Panini Grill, beginning Sept. 16.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The informal meeting offers French language topics and conversation, and information about French and Francophone culture. There will also be occasional slideshows.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “Although the meetings are informal, the French Table is a productive and effective learning experience,” said Northern Michigan University French professor Nell Kupper .

The meetings are led by students in a French literature course at NMU, who prepare topics to discuss at the meetings.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “Each student hosts one evening during the semester, for which they receive a grade,” Kupper said. “The student plans engaging topics they want to introduce for discussion and presents them to me by phone prior to the meeting.”

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The French table is open to the public. For more information call Kupper at 227-2648.
