MEXICAN PLAYWRIGHT VISITS NMU FOR STAGED READING

MARQUETTE – Mexico City playwright Ignacio Solares will visit Northern Michigan University and watch a staged reading of his play, The Golden Coin: Freud or Jung? It offers a look at the rivalry between the two revolutionaries of modern psychology, exhibited as a philosophical duel from beyond the grave and narrated by a patient of both masters.

The Golden Coin will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, in 104 Jamrich. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Solares is an award-winning writer of more than a dozen published novels and an equal number of plays that have been staged. The original Spanish version of The Golden Coin enjoyed a long run in Mexico City and has been translated into English by NMU student Amy Pesola and Timothy Compton, head of the modern languages and literatures department at NMU.
