MARQUETTE Ã‚– The next psychology colloquium at Northern Michigan University will be titled, Ã‚“The Impact of Economic Reform on Middle-Aged Women in China: The Changing Dynamics and Statistics.Ã‚” It is scheduled from 3:10-4:15 p.m. Friday, April 2, in Gries Hall room 167. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
Renxin Yang, a professor in the sociology and social work department at NMU, will share the results of her research on the impact of economic reform on marriage and family relationships of middle-aged women in mainland China.
She conducted in-depth interviews with women in four different cities. Her presentation on the effects of the interplay of cultural traditions and major social transformations on middle-aged women will be based on the data she collected.
