O.A.R. TO PLAY AT NMU

MARQUETTE – Tickets are now available for the O.A.R. concert at Northern Michigan University. The college band will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, at the Berry Events Center.

O.A.R., which stands for Or a Revolution, is an Ohio-based group that has been compared to the Dave Matthews Band because of its style and “thought-provoking” lyrics on such topics as freedom, wanderlust, idealism and love. Since its first independent release titled, “The Wanderer,” the band has developed a loyal fan base and followed up with three more CDs.

Members include singer Marc Roberge, guitarist Richard On, sax player Jerry DePizzo, bassist Benji Gershman, and drummer Chris Culos. With music of the indie rock persuasion, O.A.R. just signed on with a label with caution, not wanting to leave any fans behind.

“A reporter once brilliantly called our music a train wreck of many styles,” Roberge said in a previous interview. “That is what it is. I really do think it’s an accidental thing when you’ve got five guys who like five different kinds of music getting in and playing together. Yeah, you’re going to experience a lot of confusion. Within confusion, there’s fusion. It works for us.”

Tickets for NMU students are $15 for general admission and $17 for the floor. General public admission is $18 for general seating and $20 for floor. They are available at all NMU EZtickets outlets and www.eztickets.com.
