JOBSEARCH CENTER OFFERS NEW JOB-POSTING SYSTEM

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The JOBSearch Center at Northern Michigan University has partnered with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) to offer NACElink, an online job-posting system. It allows employers to post positions intended for NMU students and alumni. It also provides another vehicle for NMU students and alumni to search for jobs and post their resumes.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  NACElink users can access thousands of job postings and employers; create, change and store resumes; apply for jobs online; view the history of their job applications; and set up agents that automatically notify them of new job postings. Employers can post jobs specific to NMU or multiple schools; specify how students should apply for the posted jobs; view resumes and applications online; and communicate with applicants through NACElink or via email.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “Employers tend to be very loyal to colleges and universities at which they have been successful in recruiting in the past,” said John Frick, director of the JOBSearch Center. “Once employers experience success at a college or university, they return time and time again to recruit.”

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The NACElink system is a free service for students and alumni. Employers pay for 30-day job postings and for accessing the resume database. The cost of posting jobs through NACElink is $25 per school per posting, with discounts on postings to six or more schools.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “The partnership with NACElink is just one tool NMU graduates and alumni can use in order to increase their chances of success when looking for a job or a career change,” said Frick. Ã‚“Face-to-face interviews and encounters like the NMU Career Awareness Day, Upper Great Lakes Collegiate Job Fair, and other activities are still the most important recruitment tool students use. But the JOBSearch Center's online resume system, partnerships with NACElink and University Talent, the online job vacancy bulletins, and our emerging distance job fairs and interviewing facilities provide the tools NMU students need in order to get their credentials, resumes, and experience in front of employers prior to going face to face during an interview.”
