Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is offering the opportunity to take a walking tour of downtown Marquette, followed by a presentation of downtown development plans, from 4-5:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, beginning at Upfront and Company at 102 E. Main St.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Kathy Weber, the director of the downtown Marquette Association, will facilitate the two-part event. The tour will highlight the history, architecture and unique shops that make up the downtown area. It will also allow a viewing of the future site of the Marquette Commons, where there are plans for a new town center that will provide a world-class outdoor skating facility as well as a backdrop for artistic displays, performances and festivals.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  At 5 p.m. light refreshments will be served at Upfront and Company while participants view preliminary plans for the Marquette Commons and discuss other projects and events that will be occurring year-round. Those wishing to skip the walking jour may come to this portion.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  In the event of inclement weather, the program will entirely take place at Upfront and Company. The cost to participate is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers. To register or for more information, call 906-249-3229.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  NCLL will also hold its annual meeting following the event from 5:45-6 p.m. There is no charge to attend.
