Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Center for Gerontological Studies is sponsoring a program on exercise, fitness and healthy aging from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, in room 242 of the PEIF building.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Barb Coleman and Terry Smythe will present the program. Coleman is an NMU faculty member and a member of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She is a certified American College of Sports Medicine exercise specialist and a trainer for the Michigan Public Health InstituteÂ’s osteoporosis prevention program.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Smythe is an employee of the Keweenaw Memorial Rehabilitation and Fitness Center in Houghton, and is certified as a personal trainer in strength and conditioning. A former U.S. Olympian, she is a member of several professional organizations including the Medical Fitness Association.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The public is invited to attend this free event. Those who attend are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.
