FORMER LIONS QB TO ADDRESS COLLEGE LIFE AND COPING

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Former NFL quarterback Eric Hipple and journalist Karen Marshall will give a presentation at Northern Michigan University on college life and coping with such factors as anxiety and substance abuse. They will also explain how to recognize the signs of depression and help someone who is depressed.

The presentation is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at Northern Michigan University. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Hipple was a quarterback for the Detroit Lions for 10 years. He was named Most Valuable Player for the 1981 season and helped the Lions earn two playoff bids and a divisional championship. Hipple lost his son to suicide.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Marshall is a journalist with extensive experience in print, broadcast and Web-based reporting. She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for a newspaper series about National Guard units on active duty in Bosnia.
