NMU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Alumni Association nominated Barry Axelrod as its next president at a winter meeting in Novi. Axelrod is a 1969 graduate of NMU and is vice president of Dwinn-Shaffer & Company, Mortgage Bankers in Chicago.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  He succeeds Rick Popp, who resigned because of professional commitments that require him to relocate to Mexico City. Popp had served as president since 2002.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  "I am honored to be taking on the presidency of the NMU Alumni Association,” Axelrod said. “NMU played an important role in my life and now it's my turn to return the favor. I look to all NMU alumni, my fellow board members and the campus community for assistance, guidance and support to continue the important work of the Alumni Association and the Wildcat tradition of success."
