MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Forest Roberts Theatre. The public is invited to attend the concert free of charge.

The band will perform works by Percy Grainger, Karl King, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holtz, Gioacchino Rossini, Tielman Susato, and Ronald Lo Presti, and the late Ron Caviani.

Caviani was an NMU alumnus. He returned to his alma mater as a music department faculty member from 1967-1979. While teaching at NMU, Caviani was the resident composer and arranger for the marching band and conductor of the jazz band. He also established and conducted the Upper Peninsula Youth Orchestra. He passed away last month at his home in Iron Mountain.

The NMU Symphonic Band is under the direction of Stephen Grugin.
