‘HMS PINAFORE’ AUDITIONS TO BE HELD

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Community-wide auditions for “HMS Pinafore,” a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Thomas Fine Arts B101 at Northern Michigan University.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  “HMS Pinafore” is being produced by the NMU Opera Theatre Workshop. Roles open for audition are: Sir Joseph Porter, Dick Deadeye and Bill Bobstay the boatswain, all baritones; Captain Corcoran and Ralph Rackstraw, tenors; Bob Beckett the carpenter, bass; Josephine, soprano; Cousin Hebe and Little Buttercup, mezzos.

Those who audition will be asked to sing, read dialogue, and dance and move. Vocal selections from “HMS Pinafore” are preferred though not absolutely necessary.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25.
