MARQUETTE – Gary R. Bertoline will deliver the keynote address and receive an honorary degree at Northern Michigan University’s mid-year commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Bertoline is a professor of computer graphics technology and associate vice president for information technology at Purdue University. He also serves as director of the Envision Center for Data Perceptualization.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  A native of Norway, Mich., Bertoline is an alumnus of NMU. He received a MasterÂ’s Degree in Education from Miami University and a doctorate in technology from Ohio State University. He is currently a member of Epsilon Pi Tau, SIGGRAPH, the American Society for Engineering education, and IEEE. Bertoline also serves on the editorial boards for the International Journal for Geometry and Graphics, and the Journal of Terrestrial Observation.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  He has presented more than 60 papers at professional conferences in North America, Australia and Europe. Bertoline has published numerous papers in journals and trade publications on engineering and computer graphics, computer-aided design (CAD) and visualization research. He has also authored eight text books, selling more than 500,000 books worldwide.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Bertoline will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Technology degree from NMU during the commencement ceremony, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Superior Dome.
