MARQUETTE –Jason Ingersoll of Cheboygan and Jamie Brisco of Maywood, Ill., were crowned Homecoming king and queen at Northern Michigan University.
The coronation contest, held Sept. 24, began with two dress competitions: semi-formal and costume. Participants were judged on coordination and cohesiveness of the outfit, applicability of the costume to the theme, poise, and audience reaction. After the dress competition, the judges and audience chose four semifinalists.
The semifinalists proceeded through a question-and-answer round during which they each had one minute to answer a question that they pulled out of a bowl. They were judged on poise, appropriateness of the answer, and audience reaction. Â
Ingersoll is a freshman history major. He was sponsored by Spalding Hall. Brisco is a senior sociology major with a minor in social welfare. She represented the Black Student Union.
NMU Homecoming activities continue through Sept. 27.
