NMU MENTIONED ON LIFETIME TV PROGRAM

Northern Michigan University will be mentioned on national television Saturday (Aug. 9) in the second episode of Lifetime TelevisionÂ’s new show, 1-800-MISSING, which stars Gloria Reuben.  Reuben plays an FBI investigator working with a young psychic to track down missing people.

In SaturdayÂ’s episode, a key clue to breaking a serial killer case will be the psychic “seeing” a Northern Michigan University football helmet in a vision.

Northern was contacted earlier this summer about the use of its logo, name and football helmet for which permission was granted.  NMU has just been notified that this weekÂ’s episode is the one with the Northern reference.

“Unfortunately, our fictional alum turns out to be one of the suspects in the case, but we decided that the exposure to a national television audience was worth the implication that we could have an alum involved in suspicious but fictional activity,” said Mike Roy, interim NMU president.

The show airs at 10 p.m.
