NMU ANNOUNCES 2003 STUDENT LEADER FELLOWS

MARQUETTE – Sixty-two Northern Michigan University students have been accepted into the Student Leader Fellowship Program, a nationally recognized initiative that promotes leadership development and a commitment to community service over a two-year period.

The program will kick off with a fall retreat. During the first year, each participant will enroll in a leadership theory and practice course, attend several Skill Builder! Workshops, and be matched with a community leader who will serve as a mentor. During the second year, each student plans, organizes and implements a year-long community service internship.

Because of its Student Leader Fellowship Program, NMU has been featured in The Templeton Guide: Colleges that Encourage Character Development, a national resource for parents, students and educators.
