THREE NMU BUILDINGS EVACUATED

Northern Michigan University Public Safety has been notified that all campus buildings north of Wright Street are under mandatory evacuation because of flash flooding conditions in the northeast region of Marquette.

The facilities impacted include the Jacobetti Center, the Services Building/Public Safety, and the Harvey G. Ripley Heating Plant. Employees in these buildings were notified via e-mail and asked to report to the University Center for additional information and instructions.

Despite the evacuation of the heating plant, electricity to campus buildings will not be shut off unless water is actually approaching the building. If such an outage becomes necessary, it would impact all facilities except the Superior Dome, PEIF, Berry Events Center and campus apartments.
