NCLL OFFERS IRON MINING HERITAGE THEME PARK TOUR

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is offering a tour of the Marquette Range Iron Mining Heritage Theme Park from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. The tour will depart from and return to the Superior Dome Parking Lot at Northern Michigan University.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The park, located at the Cliffs Shaft in Ishpeming, opened in 2002. The museum structure is a double brick building constructed in 1902. It contains an extensive display of mining equipment, photos, a diorama and a mineral room exhibiting the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral ClubÂ’s many specimens from this area and around the world.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The tour will include viewing the tunnels and a presentation by mining historian Leo LaFond.
