MARQUETTE Ã‚– Erin Anderson of Gwinn, Mich., a graduate student in the Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing at Northern Michigan University, has received an early graduation present. Anderson was recently notified that her personal essay, Ã‚“Suburbs and Automobiles,Ã‚” will be published in The Cream City Review in September. She will complete her degree requirements this summer.
Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ The essay deals with AndersonÃ‚’s dislike of the Southern California suburbs, her fatherÃ‚’s alcoholism and her brotherÃ‚’s suicide.Ã‚ The essay was originally an early draft of AndersonÃ‚’s thesis, but ended up as part of a much shorter two-piece section under one title.Ã‚
Ã‚“I remember telling a friend that everything I really needed to say about my life was in these two pieces, totaling 4,106 words,Ã‚” Anderson said.
Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Anderson has received her bachelorÃ‚’s and masterÃ‚’s degrees from California State University, Northridge in English and American literature.Ã‚ She has taught English in the Czech Republic and recently has been nominated by the Peace Corps to teach English to future English teachers in either Eastern Europe or Central Asia.
