CERAMIC ARTIST CHRISTOPHER GUSTIN TO VISIT NMU

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Christopher Gustin, a contemporary ceramic artist, will visit Northern Michigan University April 14-15. He will give a public presentation at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, in West Science room C.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Most of GustinÂ’s work deals with the function, practice and process of vessel-making. By making radical abstractions in the visual structures of a ceramic vessel into space, he creates anthropomorphic, or somewhat humanlike, sculpture. Gustin is a professor emeritus of ceramics at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The event is free and is part of the Art Students League Visiting Artist Series. It is sponsored by the Art Students League, MudslingerÂ’s Club and the Student Activity Fee.
