NMU STUDENT WINS ATHLETIC TRAINERS’ SCHOLARSHIP

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Tiffany Zavesky, a Northern Michigan University student from Boyne City, Mich., is one of two recipients of a $500 scholarship from the Michigan Athletic TrainersÂ’ Society (MATS). Zavesky is a senior majoring in athletic training. She is the first NMU student to receive a MATS scholarship.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MATS is an organization composed of certified athletic trainers, non-certified student athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals. It strives to improve the quality of health care for the physically active individual through continued education and research in the areas of injury prevention, treatment, management and rehabilitation. MATS also educates the community about the profession and how individuals can better improve the general health care of the physically active.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Athletic trainers are professionally equipped to work in the following settings: hospital and clinical rehabilitation, high school athletics and industrial rehabilitation.
