SECOND CITY WILL RETURN TO NMU

MARQUETTE – The Second City Touring Company will perform at Northern Michigan University March 14 and 15. Each show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Roberts Theatre.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Second City has been described as “six or seven actors who enliven an empty stage with topical comedy sketches. Using very few props and costumes, the ensemble lampoons modern political, social and cultural lives. Their performances also include their famous improvisational sequences, building sketches on the spur of the moment around audience participation.”

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The company was formed in Chicago in 1959.  As their popularity grew, so did the group.  A second company began in Toronto and two touring companies were Sestablished.  The Detroit-based company will perform in Marquette.

Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Former members of the Second City include Bill Murray, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Chris Farley and John Belushi.
