MARQUETTE - Professor Jane Jamsen of the mathematics and computer science department at Northern Michigan University received a Service Award from the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM).
Jamsen won this award for her commitment to the organization and her profession. She has served the MCTM in the following capacities: regional director, site coordinator for junior high mathematics competitions at NMU, site co-chair for the 2002 MCTM annual meeting at NMU, member of the professional development committee and the New Directions workshops and MCTM representative in the Michigan Statewide Systemic Initiative through the Teacher Education Redesign Component.
She has been involved with state projects such as the MEAP and the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification and she served as one of the writers for the Michigan Benchmark Clarification Project. She has worked in middle schools and has been a professor for 27 years at NMU. She has also served on various committees in the Marquette Area Public Schools.
