MARQUETTE - Michael Schiffer, who has written several screenplays and a travel book, will be in Marquette Nov. 18 and 19 as part of the Master of Fine Arts Visiting Writers Reading Series at Northern Michigan University.

    Schiffer is a graduate of Harvard University. He has written screenplays for “Colors,” “Lean on Me,” “Crimson Tide,” “The Peacemaker” and “Four Feathers.” He wrote a novel titled “Ball Park” in addition to his travel book “Lessons of the Road.”

    He will give a talk on screenwriting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the WomenÂ’s Federated Club House at 104 W. Ridge St. He will also read from “Lessons of the Road” Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Cadillac Room of the University Center at NMU. The public is invited to attend both events free of charge.
