SOUTH AFRICAN ARTISTS TO VISIT NMU

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  MARQUETTE – Eager Artists, a musical performance troupe from Durban, South Africa, will visit Northern Michigan Oct. 17-18. The group of 14 people will be performing a show of drumming, song and dance at 7:30 p.m. each night in the Forest Roberts Theatre.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  The show, “Ekhaya Poppie” or “Come Back Poppie” tells the story of a young black girl whose romance gets her caught up in a war that white men are fighting in her country. It is an original musical written and produced by Eager ArtistsÂ’ troupe leader and director Jerry Pooe.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚  Eager Artists is visiting Marquette as part of their fourth North American tour. Their show “Ekhaya Poppie” has packed theaters in Buffalo, New York, as well as Bolemfontien and Durban, South Africa.
