REGGAE DANCE PARTY TO BE HELD AT NMU

MARQUETTE – The Jamrock Reggae Band will bring its authentic Jamaican music to Northern Michigan University on Wednesday, Aug. 28. This special dance party is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center. It is the first event in the 2002-03 NMU Performing Arts Series.

Jamrock was founded in 1995 through the desire of a few Jamaicans living in the United States to hear authentic reggae music. They wanted to play true “yard style” party reggae rhythms and standards and produce a real Jamaican sound. The success of the group is documented by the fact that Jamrock music is played in the members’ home country.

Tickets are $2 for all students and $5 for the general public. The Jamrock event is not included in the Performing Arts Series season ticket package. Tickets can be purchased at the Superior Dome, University Center Snak Shak, Forest Roberts Theatre, and at the door. They are also available online at www.nmu.edu/tickets.
