MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University has developed a new policy for summer use of laptop computers. Previously, students were required to make a $250 deposit, but with NMU's new policy students can take their IBM ThinkPads home for free.
Students currently enrolled in winter semester classes who register for fall prior to the date the laptops are due, may keep the computers over the summer with no additional fee or deposit.
With this new policy, if fall semester tuition is not paid on time, the laptop must be returned by the tuition deadline. Also, students who cancel fall registration before tuition is due will be asked to return their laptops immediately.
