ROWLEY RECEIVES NMU WRITING AWARD

MARQUETTE - Christine Rowley of Paradise received the Bamard Award from Northern Michigan University.  She is a freshman majoring in English writing.

The Bamard Award honors the best paper written in NMU's freshman-level composition course.  It is presented to one student each calendar year.

Rowley submitted a paper entitled "Sticks and Stones." She is the daughter of Patrick and Honey May Rowley of Paradise.

The award was established in 1969 to honor Ellsworth Bamard, professor of English at NMU from 1957-1968.
