MARQUETTE - The Upper Peninsula regional Science Olympiad will be held at Northern Michigan University on Saturday, March 16. More than 300 students from 13 middle schools and a dozen high schools are expected to compete in the day-long event.Participants will confront several challenges, from building -rockets and bridges to science laboratory tasks and mathematical problems. Most of the events will take place in the New Science Facility and West Science Building at NMU. An awards ceremony will follow the competition at 5 p.m. in Jamrich Hall room 102. Winners advance to the Michigan Science Olympiad in Lansing on April 27. Superior Central will attempt to defend last year's regional titles in the high school and middle school divisions.
